Sachin is Castrol Indian Cricketer of the Year

The year 2011 has started on a great note for the Master Blaster. As he trains to prepare for the upcoming World Cup, the prizes and awards just don’t leave him anywhere. After grabbing the ICC Cricketer of the year award for 2010, Sachin was announced to be Castrol Indian Cricketer of the Year. Sachin was given this award yesterday in a Mumbai 5 star hotel where all cricketing community came together to felicitate the Little Champion with Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag also being recognized for their contribution. Dravid for completing 200 test catches and Sehwag won the Batsman of the Year award. Sachin who was Cricketer of the Year was also awarded with Test Cricketer of the year and a special award for his 50th Test hundred. Sachin also spoke on this occasion and said that he was happy that India was able to sustain the Test no. 1 ranking. “When we reached the No. 1 rank, there were those who thought we’d lose the crown after 30 or 40 days. It’s more than a year now and we’re still at the top and that’s been a great effort on part of the whole team,” he said. While speaking on the team’s prospects, Sachin underlined that there is much more coming up in the upcoming World Cup and that this is no way the end. Wishing Sachin all the best for the World Cup!
